Our History

Thirty-five years ago, six families felt led by God to start a church in the southwest part of Littleton. Surrounded by acres of undeveloped land and merely a hope of what might be, they began meeting in homes. Foothills Bible Church was chosen as the name for this new body of believers.

There were months and years of simply praying together; studying the Bible, and caring for one another. To their joy, the fellowship grew. Soon, they actually rented some space at Western Bible College to have Sunday worship together.

Growth was steady both in spiritual and numerical terms.Soon thereafter, a pastor was brought on to preach the Word and guide the church.

Pastor Bill was confirmed as the pastor in 1985. By then the church had its own building at Belleview and Simms. Growth continued and by now, God had also increased the reputation of Foothills as an outstanding place to learn God’s Word and live within the message of grace.

God stirred the church to continue in faith. The congregation went through years of planning and praying before God literally gave them the land at Bowles and C-470. Most people become wide-eyed when they discover that the church purchased all 38 acres of land for about $360,000. Buildings were erected and the church moved in September, 1997.

A great anniversary was celebrated in 2000 when the church had a dream fulfilled of seeing 1,000 new people become followers of Christ between 1994 and 2000.

In 2005 God moved again through our Elder and Leadership teams to establish our mission: FBC – A family upward, inward and outward! as well as our vision for qualitative and quantitative growth.

Today our many and varied ministries for people of all ages seek to work together to worship God, build up each other and reach out to those without Christ within as well as beyond our community. How those original seeds have grown into a mighty, strong tree!

What is the thread through this entire story? It is God’s work! From start to finish, He has been the one to provide the path, empower the people, and call them to renewal found in His Son. Foothills lives today due to His empowerment and His grace.
