Weddings
Congratulations! You are getting married. We are thankful that you are considering Foothills Bible Church for your special celebration. Your first step is to contact the church office in person, by phone, or eMail Peggy, our Wedding Coordinator at psleeth(at)qwest.net. Peggy will be able to answer any questions, discuss available dates, provide charges, outline church policies and procedures, etc. Once you have reviewed our procedures and guidelines and have made the decision to have your wedding at Foothills, the Wedding Coordinator will set up a meeting to finalize the details, obtain the security deposit to hold our wedding date on the church calendar, and address any additional questions you may have.
Scheduling Procedures
Foothills is available to accommodate your wedding, rehearsal dinner, or reception needs. Because of the many activities that take place at Foothills we have the following procedure for scheduling:
- We want your wedding to be special and not stressful or rushed, therefore, we do not schedule more than one wedding per day.
- Availability for a wedding on Saturday is limited due to late afternoon worship services.
- If the church and the wedding staff are available, we can accommodate holiday weddings.
- Due to the set-up requirements for our worship services, all weddings using the worship center must be complete and the building emptied by 3:00 pm on Saturdays. When using the SHED gym for weddings or receptions, events must be complete and the building emptied by 10:00 pm on Saturdays.
- If possible, the worship center will be reserved for you on the afternoon and evening of the day before your wedding for the rehearsal and decorating.
- Any wedding or rehearsal conducted on Thursday evenings must be completed by 6:00 pm.
- Wedding dates may be scheduled up to one year in advance for Foothills members and regular attenders, and up to 6 months in advance for non-attenders.
Selecting a Pastor and PreMarital Counseling
The wedding coordinator will assist in obtaining and scheduling a pastor to officiate your wedding. The pastors at Foothills require premarital counseling for the couples they marry and for all weddings being performed at Foothills Bible Church. The pastor will discuss the process with you at an introductory meeting. You are welcome to use an Evangelical pastor from another church to officiate your wedding. This requires the approval of the Foothills pastoral staff or Senior Leadership. The wedding coordinator will provide you with an “Outside Pastor Approval Form” that will need to be completed by your pastor and submitted for approval.
Divorce and Remarriage
As a pastoral staff, we affirm the high value God places upon marriage. We affirm the permanence of the marriage bond, and at the same time, we affirm the worth and value of every person, all of whom have fallen short of the divine ideal through human frailty, ignorance or sin.
It is our intent to stay true to the biblical teaching regarding divorce and remarriage, uphold the value of the permanence of marriage, and demonstrate a concern to the broken, keeping God's best redeeming interests at heart. With this in mind, our pastors will provide counsel to couples on a case-by-case basis regarding remarriage.
Foothills Wedding Staff
Our prayer is that your wedding day will be a special day you will remember fondly for a lifetime. We want you to be able to relax and enjoy your celebration. As a service to our wedding couples and to insure a well-organized wedding, we have a wedding staff that will assist you with the many details associated with your wedding ceremony.
This staff includes a wedding coordinator, a media support technician, and a facilities coordinator. The staff will attend the rehearsal and the wedding, as well as, the rehearsal dinner or reception, if applicable.
Wedding Coordinator
The wedding coordinator is your main point of contact with the church. Her responsibility is to help facilitate a smooth and enjoyable day for you. She is responsible for coordinating the staff and working with the pastor, facilities coordinator and media support technicians. She will conduct an initial planning meeting with you to answer any questions and explain available services. She works with the pastor to conduct the rehearsal based on your desires for your wedding ceremony. She will be available on the wedding day to ensure the church is properly set-up, help the wedding party and family prepare, coordinate with the photographer, florist, videographer, caterer, or other parties. She will cue the wedding party prior to the wedding and ensure the family is seated properly. After your wedding she will assist in the receiving line, if used.
Media Support Technician
The media support technician will assist with the adjustment of the worship center lighting and sound systems. They will provide the needed microphones for the pastor, instrumentalists or vocalists, and play music CDs that you would like during your ceremony.
Facilities Coordinator
The facilities coordinator will assist with the set up of candelabras, tables, stage set up and clean up, and other general custodial functions at the rehearsal and wedding. He will meet you at the church when you are decorating to provide assistance.
Charges
The wedding coordinator can provide you with the applicable detailed charges to have your wedding and reception at Foothills. A deposit is collected upon your initial meeting with the coordinator. This reserves your date on the church calendar and will be used to pay for any costs from damages that may occur or any policies that have not been adhered to. Assuming there are no damages or policies not adhered to, the deposit is refunded within 2 weeks after the wedding. In addition to the deposit, a fee is charged for the use of the church and for the wedding staff. This payment is due to the wedding coordinator 2 weeks prior to the wedding. Additional charges may be applicable and can be discussed with the coordinator. If you should cancel your wedding at least 61 days in advance of your date, you will receive a full refund. If you should cancel 31 to 60 days in advance, you will receive one-half of your deposit. If less than 30 days notice is provided, the deposit will not be refunded. Any cancellation or change in the wedding date must be communicated to the wedding coordinator.
